SV550 80 APO for Prime Focus Photography - Connected to M48 Camera Ring

Like most people likely reading this review, I was intrigued by how an 80mm APO triplet could be going for 50-75% less than all the others. I wondered if it was just bad manufacturing or if it was bad image or if there was some other hidden reason why it was so much cheaper. Still, I bit the bullet and got it with the thought that I could just return it if it was really that bad. Spoiler: it wasn't bad. In fact, it's much better than I could have predicted. 80mm f/6. for 480mm of focal length. Get that paired with the 1x field flattener and you get true, flattened 480mm images. When I first got it, I had my back spacing between my camera and the flattener off by ~8mm unknowingly, so the first images I got from it had me ready to claim to the world that I had found the flaw that caused it to be so much cheaper. The corners were oblong and not very good quality. After learning that I was wrong and putting the right spacers in, all that went away and the images I was able to capture had me shaking my head in disbelief. They are clear from corner to corner and the colors all look great.
