Stargazing for Himalayan Kids: How SVBONY Powers Astro-Educational Dreams

My Journey with SVBONY

I built two 6-inch Dobsonian telescopes for young girls and boys in the Himalayan region of Zanskar. In these telescopes, we used SVBONY eyepieces and the red-dot finder—and the red-dot finder has made it incredibly convenient to locate popular celestial objects in the night sky. This is especially important, as there are always many eager kids waiting in a queue with big, excited faces, ready to peer through the eyepiece.
The 1.25" Plossl eyepieces were a wonderful improvement over the aspheric eyepieces we used before; the starfield stays sharp all the way to the edge, delivering fantastic views of the Moon, planets, and bright deep-sky objects. Best of all, they are budget-friendly—perfect for our non-profit educational projects.
I am now in the process of making many 3D-printed telescopes, and with a tight budget, it has been invaluable to have a company like SVBONY that creates budget-friendly products with a level of quality I have come to trust. I also bought a SVBONY laser collimator, which is extremely helpful when quickly setting up collimation before our evening stargazing sessions.
Having built a few telescopes for educational purposes in the Himalayan region, I wanted to scale up production—more telescopes mean more fun and learning for the children. I first came across SVBONY on AliExpress, and after checking the reviews, I became excited at the possibility of high-quality astronomy products that wouldn’t break our budget.
Oh, what a nice question! When you’re at an altitude above 4000 meters and look up at the night sky, seeing that big, shimmering river of stars laid across the darkness, you can’t help but wish you had astronomy equipment with you. My biggest highlight so far has been showing a few astronomical objects to a group of about 20 young girls—who saw the Moon, Jupiter, and Saturn for the very first time in their lives. I feel happy every time I recall that precious experience.
SVBONY eyepieces, finders, and collimation utilities have become my go-to tools when planning future astro-educational projects. Currently, I am fabricating many 3D-printed telescopes, and budget is a major concern since this is a non-profit endeavor. Having quality, low-cost equipment makes all the difference in how many kids we can reach.
I’m quite happy with the products you provide; my requirements are simple and basic, and I hope you continue to offer low-cost products with optical quality that never disappoints. I also look forward to trying some of your higher-end products someday. All the best for 2026 and beyond!
