Description

Artistic Masterpieces Shining Through Dense Cosmic Dust in the Heart of Our Galaxy

Background Introduction

This magnificent cosmic cloud spans approximately 110 light-years and lies about 4,100 light-years from Earth. It is a stellar nursery where new stars are actively forming within enormous clouds of ionized hydrogen gas. Sharing the same field of view is the spectacular Trifid Nebula (M20), another remarkable object located nearby. The Trifid Nebula is a combination of several different types of nebulae in a single celestial object, making it one of the most fascinating deep-sky targets in the summer sky.
