Background Introduction
On May 23, 2026, the moment finally arrived, and I was able to capture the Rho Ophiuchi region in perfect weather. Since the object sits extremely low in the southern night sky, I had to move to a nearby field for the shoot, leaving my usual spot in my home garden. The Ophiuchus molecular cloud is a region of active star formation and, at a distance of only about 430 light-years, is one of the closest to us. Also impressive are the two star clusters M4 and M80; they are home to hundreds of thousands of stars and are approximately 13 billion years old.
