Veil Nebula 2x1 Mosaic

Description

Having never done a mosaic before, and being eager to image this larger OIII-rich target, I decided to make this my first multi-session project using my SV545. I underestimated the learning curve for not only working with mosaic panels, but doing them well. The angle of the Veil Nebula and limited FOV from my backyard made me split each night into two parts: 2 hours from my driveway, then setting up again in the backyard so I could sleep through the rest of the night and hope my subs all came out clean. Both positions had their issues between the driveway's nearby streetlights and the backyard only marginally better due to prominent moonlight. After about 40 total hours of imaging, I felt comfortable moving to another target and tackling the final mosaic. After being picky about sub selection, the result was just under 38 hours, 564 x 240" across two panels, with the goal of drizzling 2x for a high resolution image showing almost all of this object's structure. Background Introduction

I've only been into astrophotography a short time, but it's by far been the most enjoyable for me despite every aspect having such a steep learning curve. I live in one of the worst cities as far as light pollution, Las Vegas, but narrowband gives my backyard rig plenty of options in between dark sky trips.
