Description
Captured using the SVBONY SV555 paired with the SC571C, this image combines approximately 4.5 hours of broadband data from 180 × 90-second exposures. The shorter focal length provided a wide field of view encompassing Andromeda’s extended outer regions and companion galaxies M32 and M110. The data were calibrated and stacked in Siril, with careful processing used to control the bright galactic core while revealing the surrounding dust lanes, colour and faint outer structure.
Background Introduction
Our closest major galactic neighbour, sitting around 2.5 million light-years away. Captured from the backyard, this image reveals the bright core and sweeping dust lanes of a galaxy containing hundreds of billions of stars.
