Description
IC 1396: The timeless fascination of the Elephant's Trunk Nebula. This extraordinary image captures the region of the Elephant's Trunk Nebula (IC 1396) and was taken from the urban sky of Wiesbaden. The shot is the result of a whopping 16 hours and 20 minutes of total integration, obtained by stacking 196 exposures of 300 seconds each. The use of the Svbony SV220 7nm dual-band filter was crucial in isolating gas emissions and eliminating the strong reflections of city lights. This technique allowed the finest details of dark dust and luminescent filaments to emerge with exceptional contrast and sharpness, revealing the majestic beauty of the deep cosmos despite the city's severe light pollution. Background Introduction
This is my astrophotography session dedicated to the IC 1396 nebula (Elephant's Trunk Nebula), captured from my backyard (Bortle 7). My main goal was to test the performance and sharpness of the Svbony gear on the intricate gas and dust filaments of this beautiful emission nebula.
