- It supports astigmatic corrector connection. Long eye relief of 17-19mm for comfortable viewing position, even for eyeglass wearers.
- It can be used during the day and in the night, sky support excellent resolution and contrast values as well as a sharp image at a large apparent field of view.
- Observing planets with SV230 eyepiece is highly convenient, as it allows for clear and undistorted images without any edge distortion.
Clickstop Click Design
Panoramic Wide Angle
The 57°-72°panoramic wide angle provides you with the ultimate observation comfort. The field of view of each focal point is calculated using optical design software, which is really effective. The customer's intuition may feel that the field of view will be larger.
Dual Interfaces
Equipped with 1.25" and 2" interfaces. It is suitable for multiple telescopes.
Support Astigmatic Corrector
Zoom eyepiece with astigmatic corrector provides you a better visual experience. The rubber eyecup on the eyepiece can be removed. It has M43 T-mount underneath, which can be connected via an M43-T adapter(not included).
Aspherical Lens
Double-sided aspherical glass lenses is designed to eliminate edge distortion, it has resolved the persistent issue of subpar edge image quality associated with wide-angle eyepieces, thereby transcending the visual constraints experienced by users.
Parfocalization
Parfocal across the entire zoom range. There is almost no need to refocus when changing magnification.
Fully Multi-Coated Coatings are a great help for increasing the glass's light transmission and transparency, combined with the 6 groups and 9 elements construction to provide a clearer image.
Edge Extinction
This design can absorb unwanted light when observing objects, reduce the effects of light pollution.
Continuous focal length zoom of 8mm to 20 mm for a wide range of magnification without the need to switch eyepieces.
Long eye relief of 17 mm for comfortable viewing position, even for eyeglass wearers.
Rubber Eye-cup
The adjustable rubber eye-cup is comfortable for viewing with or without spectacles.

My eyepiece collection, which I primarily use for my dobsonian, mostly consists of APM XWA. I also have a Pentax XW 40-R and a Baader Morpheus 4.5mm. This zoom eyepiece doesn't let me down optically. I enjoy it a lot. Is it as good as the Pentax? I'm my opinion, no, but the Pentax is extraordinary, and this can vary focal length. The difference in the AFOV from 20mm to 8mm feels quite big to me, but at 20mm it feels a lot less cramped than a Plössl. Trying it on M104 recently, I zoomed in slowly across the whole range of focal length and found a sweet spot of contrast where the galaxy wasn't losing too much brightness but the background sky had darkened nicely. I can work out what focal length I'm at by counting the audible ticks every 2mm. I definitely have to adjust the focus when changing focal length but not drastically. I'm getting more muscle memory for that as I use it more. I haven't tried any other zoom eyepieces, but I'm not very interested in doing so now I have this.
The SV230 offers a vefry satisfying optical performance and build quality. I've tried it with a C6" SC and a C8" SC and both were working well together with this eyepiece. Unfortunately it only has clickstop in half of the zoom marks, and that was one of the reasons why I bought this zoom. I had seen a review by Bogdan Damian, where you can see a SV230 with clickstop in all the marks. This was misleading us costumers. I wish it would stand more clear in the product specifications.
The SV230 is very well designed. The zooming process is very smooth and efficient. The visual effect of the SV230 is amazing compared to the standard zoom eyepiece that comes with the SA401 spotting scope because it has a wider field of view. Both are focused in the center area, but the SV230 has better clarity in the center area. Bottom line, the smooth zoom experience and very wide FOV are excellent for visual landscape/bird capture using the SA401 scope.
