Svbony SV209 0.8x Focal Reducer Field Flattener for SV550 122F7

SV209

Must have accessory for SV550 If you want to delve into Astro photography, this is a must have. It gives you a flat field for round stars across the frame without sacrificing focal length. If you want to use the scope for visual only, this is still a must have. It’s hard to describe the difference it makes to have the full image flat but it’s like the difference between looking at fish in an aquarium and on a 4K TV. The quality of what you’re seeing isn’t better, it’s just different on how it gets to your eyes. Great product!!

a great lens option. Increase your photon capture. Personally I did not notice any difference in resolution at the edge of the field. Both uses of direct capture and field flattener capture produced the same result.

SVBONY SV208 8x50 Correct-Image Illuminated Finder Scope for Astronomy

SV208

Correct image scope with lit cross hairs and the center circle. Like the adjustable focus, the red lit and variable intensity, All Metal, and the alignment screws have locking nuts that keep the adjustment. So much easier to get on a target. Finally a correct image finger scope. Thanks SvBony

SVBONY SV208 8x50 Correct-Image Illuminated Finder Scope for Astronomy

Excellent optics I found there was a bit of a learning curve to be able to focus the view but I was able to master it. Once the finder is set in it’s cradle it doesn’t move. The view in the eyepiece has a circle in the middle which doesn’t block the object. This finder is a definite keeper.

This is the only finder scope that worked after many were tried. This is the only finder scope that worked after many were tried. This finder scope is excellent for stargazers with astigmatism and the red dots blot out any object at night. The illuminated reticle worked great for my old eyes and how it can be finely adjusted is great. The 6 screw adjustments makes it very easy to dial in. The finder scope has a decent eye relief also. You can look directly eye to the eye piece or you can hold back a bit. I tend to hold back about 6-8 inches and I can see the reticle and target object just fine. The image quality is very good. I could go on for days. Here is a photo on top of my SV48P.

SVBONY SV208 8x50 Correct-Image Illuminated Finder Scope for Astronomy

SV208

I've been an astronomer for 30+ years I was the equipment chairman for a large city astronomical society for several years. I've taught too many people to count, how to set up telescopes, adjust them, and most importantly, how to find those elusive deepsky fuzzies. If you've ever tried to find the moon by looking through a telescope without a finder, you'll know what I mean, let alone the planets, or things you can't see with the naked eye. I've always taught star-hopping, using a Sky Atlas 2000, and an 8 x 50 finder scope. You don't need an expensive computer scope. My advice has never changed: get rid of the ubiquitous 6 x 30 (or worse, the 5 x 24) finder and get an 8 x 50 finder scope. The secret of finding things is having a finder that collects enough light to identify star pattern on the map. 8x magnification is the sweet spot; it's the right amount to see mag 8 stars, but not too magnified that you get lost. Using homemade wires that represent your finder scope field of view on a map and the field of view of your largest eyepiece, hop the stars that you see in the finder which are also circled by your wire ring on the map; by overlapping, you'll hop to any object you desire. Simple as can be. You can find anything with this technique. 30 year later, and I'm doing astrophotography with a Sony a7r-v mirrorless camera and 500mm lens. But, just like a telescope, it's hard to even find the moon through the lens. So, here I am buying yet another 8 x 50 finder. This time, it'll be mounted on my camera's hot shoe and I'll align it with that 500mm lens. The Svbony has everything I tell people to look for, plus more. It comes with a quality metal double ring holder, with 6 screws, not a single collar with 3. This allows alignment that will hold even when you're taking it on and off to store. The tube is metal, not plastic, which means it'll last for years, and hold the optics in collimation. The optics are multi coated, not single coated, which yields brighter images. But, this finder has some tricks up it's sleeve. I'll be honest. I just glanced at the photo, and size. I didn't look though the description or the photos. I ordered. It was a good deal. I've always advised buying a straight through finder, never a right angled finder, because you need both eyes open, one looking around the finder and the other though, to get lined up. Imagine my surprise when I realized the image is right side up and not mirrored. I was further surprised to find the illuminator in the box! (Like I said. I didn't even look at the description). I've got lighted reticular eyepieces, even one with measurements. They're handy when you're trying to center a particular star for astrophotography. The crosshairs light up in this finder with an adjustable red intensity. The center of the crosshairs is a circle, so you can put your target in the center. It makes a good guide scope, because you'll readily see drift. The bak roof prism brings you a natural image that's right side up and not reversed. That makes star-hopping a lot easier than back 30 years ago. The finder has a nice diopter adjustment, so you can focus on stars, with or without glasses. It has an adjustment so the crosshairs line up right. Take it from an older astronomer. The Svbony finder is a quality, useful instrument, and something that you really need to do astrophotography with a camera or astronomy through a telescope. The price is excellent.

It was my solution to get ISS Needed a correct image guide scope to manually track orbiting objects with a telescope that didn't have a 90 degree eyepiece. This is exactly what I was looking for, and the parallax adjustment feature that I hadn't noticed when I ordered it, makes it 10 times better for my needs. I wouldn't use it to auto guide, but it's perfect for chasing down the Space Station by hand if that's what you into.
