SV106 60mm f/4 Guide Scope Multi-Use Finder Scope with Helical Focuser

Better than expected.Better than expected. I was honestly surprised at how good of a product this was. For the price and by a few of the other reviews, I had expected to receive a scope that felt cheap and had sloppy, loose tolerances. While it isn’t perfect, it’s a perfectly adequate $80 guide scope. The fit and finish was way better than expected. The focuser, while not very precise and isn’t as smooth as I’m used to, will do the job. The set screws do seem to hold tight enough without having to crank down on them. The focusing tube, on mine at least, isn’t loose and doesn’t sag even when extended all the way. The 35mm extension tube does spin if the set screws are loosened. But once tightened, they hold just fine. As long as you aren’t expecting the quality of a $300 guide scope, most people would likely be satisfied it. Pair this with an AR0130 or imx290 sensor and PHD2 and you can be guiding for under $120. It’s hard to beat that. Edit: I’ve been using this to guide several times a week for a month now and it’s performed perfectly. Once my focus was set the first night, I haven’t had to touch it since.

Great guide scope upgrade I upgraded from svbony 30mm FL=120mm to this 60mm and it made a huge difference. I’m getting RMS below 0.60” Easy to focus and it looks great. Love it.

Great deal for money, using on 1000 mm scope This is incredibly good quality for the low price. I'm using it on a 1000 mm Quattro 250P Imaging Newtonian 10" scope, and it's perfect. Doesn't weigh all that much for the size either. I'm using it with a 174mm mini mono cam and the guide screen view on my ASIAIR looks great, crisp, bright. I focused it on a distant mountain during the day when I got it, locked it down, and I haven't had to touch it yet. I honestly think you could put a color cam on this and use it as a 240 mm primary scope if you were on a very tight budget.

SV106 60mm f/4 Guide Scope Multi-Use Finder Scope with Helical Focuser

Took a chance and I'm pleased with this guide scopeTook a chance and I'm pleased with this guide scope I looked at the listing carefully and decided this was the same scope made for other companies, but at a lower cost. Curiously it has the same model number as a 50mm finder, so I wasn't sure I was going to receive a 60, but I did. I mounted it to my Celestron 8SE to be used as an autoguider as shown in the photo It is actually a bit longer than I expected, but fits the 8SE well after I added a second vixen bar to give it plenty of support. I didn't use the narrow dovetail that came with the scope, however it is well made. so I may reuse that for another purpose. Instead I mounted the rings onto an extra pair of clamps I had. The optical quality is very nice. No visible aberrations or distortions from edge to edge, and the image is nice and bright with crisp contrast. I do see a purplish colored coating on the objective, so it may have an antireflection coating of some kind. I may need to tweak the focuser once I attach the camera, but for just using an eyepiece, everything works well and is smooth without being overly loose or overly tight. The only thing I didn't care for were the six inexpensive screws used to center the scope in the rings. They seem to be cast aluminum and not machined in any way. I may clean them up later with a die cutter. I also will add some lock nuts before my final alignment with the main scope, just to keep everything aligned and tight. So overall, I'm happy with the purchase and I think Svbony needs to be considered when choosing products of this type.

Awesome and Inexpensive guide scope. I’m not sure what happened to my original review however at the time of this rewrite, I have been using this for about 2 months. This scope is perfect for my 8se and my CPC1100 with use of wedge. In addition to the scope, I am using the svbony sv205 as a guide camera. I have been able to reliably guide and stay on track using this setup along with a good polar aligning on the wedge platform. I have a couple videos that I will be posting on the unit in action, as well as a quick view of how I have it setup. SVBony has become my go to for accessories on my telescopes. Solid value and absolutely phenomenal customer service.

It is good, Nice quality, use a moon filter to avoid moon blue fringing At first I thought I got a bad scope (see pic) because of the fringing, but it turns out it was just the SV105 that is doing it. I put a moon filter on it and all the blue fringing went away. Good guidescope, good quality, smooth, everything is nice and tight.

Compact Powerhouse This little scope was the perfect size and optical setup for use as a guidescope (with additional QHY camera). The optical alignment was spot-on and provided a very bright & clear resolution, when tested in a visual arrangement. Cost for value is terrific.

Good scope for what I'm using it for. I did not buy this to use as a tracking scope but to use with my C90 to take photos of the Sun, Moon, and objects such as the Pleiades, & Orion's nebula. With a much shorter focal length than the C90 it gives less magnification and a wider field of view than my C90. It is well made, well packaged and I think it is a very good deal for the price. It can also be used with a 2x Barlow or a .5 focal reducer, and also as a finder scope.

You can't beat the value. Sharp optics, great focuser. This finder/guidescope is an excellent product for the price. The optics are very sharp, and the focuser is excellent. Other reviews state the draw tube part of the focuser is loose, and that is not true in my experience. The rough-focus drawtube is very solid when the adjustment screw is tightened down, and the helical focuser allows extremely precise focusing. Another review stated the focuser doesn't have enough travel to accomodate the popular ASI120 guidecamera, and that is also false. The drawtube allows enough backfocus to easily accomodate my ASI120 without any extension tubes. Buy with confidence, this product is an excellent value. I will be selling a significantly more expensive Orion guidescope that doesn't have enough backfocus to accomodate my ASI120 guiding camera in favor of this one.

A good guidescope for Astrophotagraphy I have been using this as a astrophotography guidescope for while now on two of my telescopes. It's helical focuser makes it easy to quickly focus for use. Once focused I have not had to change it (Although I check occasionally). It provides a good clear image for guiding my systems.

Great guide scope, quality focuser, lightweight but durable scope. Not sure why the star ratings are sheerness and thickness lol but this is a great little guide scope. when I see the svbony name I don’t think great things. I think budget. But I took a chance on this and am glad that I did. I use it for my astrophotography with a small sensor cam through phd2 for autoguiding. The helical focuser is smooth yet not loose the optics don’t have any noticeable chromatic abberation like many cheaper toy refractors. Overall I’m very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend this as a good guide scope/smaller 240mm focal length scope/or for what I did and use for autoguiding.

Great Guide scope, awesome fine focus, and apparently woefully uniformed purchasers/reviews. This scope is very well constructed and features a nicely designed fine focus to supplement the coarse focus, thus allowing it to accommodate virtually all 1.25 in. cameras such as the ZWO 120 Mini. At the top of the customer reviews are two by identified as "Just Asking" and another by D. Nasser both of whom apparently have no idea what they're talking about. I too have a ZWO 120 Mini guide camera and it fits absolutely perfectly with the SV106 guide scope. The scope has three ways to focus the camera: a course focus, a wonderfully implemented fine focus, and the ability to move the camera in and out of the mounting tube for a very coarse focus adjustment. With the camera fully seated in the mount and the coarse focus extended about 2/3, the camera achieved absolutely perfect focus with much capability to spare. Note that some other reviewer's have left similar comments, also, noting that the ZWO 120 Mini easily fits with this guide scope. An absolutely great piece of kit! It's too bad that some of the reviewer's apparently don't know how to operate a lens...

Best refractor scope in affordable categoryBest refractor scope in affordable category Very happy with this scope. I've used this as main scope with ZWO ASI224MC camera and done DSO Astrophotography. It is quite capable of producing sharp images. My images attached are done by Live Stacking. No flat or dark frames used.

Good affordable guide scope Great Budget Guiding scope, it works just fine for guiding at a reasonable price. I don't understand some of the negative reviews. If the reviews are because of manufacturing defects that is understandable. I use this for guiding with a small camera and am very pleased. This is meant to be a budget scope for those of us who have shallow pockets. The quality is good the helical movement is smooth and for me it works great. I have seen this exact scope re-branded by some big name telescope company's that we all know and they are doubling the price for the exact save item. I would rather save some money that to have big name on my equipment. I have other items by SVBONY and I have more money because of them.
