Absolutely stunning My first time using a dedicated planetary camera and this is by far one of the most satisfying moments since I got into planetary and astrophotography. For the value, this thing is a no brainer. For those who aren't quite sure what to expect, whether this hobby is for them or not, or just to be less stressed out over using a phone to image, this is for you. Absolutely amazing for the money. These are my first two images, so I can only imagine the quality will increase with practice. If you're considering a camera, you won't go wrong here.

Fantastic budget camera This is an incredible budget camera that has not let me down since it came out of the box and I have spent many hours with it so far. Sturdy metal design, compact, light weight and easy to use software make it very appealing for beginners. No need to search for drivers to install on Windows. Have only used it for planetary purposes with a 70/700mm achromatic refractor and an 8” 1200mm Dobsonian. Attached are some recent images captured with the Dobsonian (manually guided) of Jupiter, Saturn and Mars.

Just getting started Got the SV105 to see if I like planetary imaging. So far this is a great intro into it. The photo quality is very good for the price point in my opinion. This photo was taken with the SV105 and a 2x Barlow lenses

Great value camera A good place to start in astrophotography. I’ve seen many good images posted here in the reviews. I’ve included an image of Jupiter with moons that I took with this camera. This image was only about 84 frames stacked. Just have to learn how to edit images in RegiStax or Autostakkert/GIMP and you’re good to go. If you’re thinking about doing AP get this camera. You can get started for a fraction of the price of a ZWO and then if you want to upgrade you’ve already got the experience

Great value for money! The Sv105 is the only imaging device that I have ever used. Since I only have a low cost 4.5" reflector with limited capability, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something like this. I was pleasantly surprised just how well this Sv105 device works. After downloading SharpCap 3.2 software on my Windows PC I was able to immediately capture images and videos. The attached shots of the Moon and Jupiter are single screen captures from 30fps videos that I took. I tried star photo's and stacking but so far these results are mixed. I need to play with the settings a bit more. Overall, the Sv105 is a well made product and it comes with the USB cable to connect to a PC, a lens cap and a cleaning cloth. Well worth the money if you want to try some simple planetary/moon photography!

Worth the money. Good camera, as a beginner I am pleased with it! I wish it had a faster exposure than 1/60th sec, makes shooting the moon a tad difficult. The pic I shot is with a moon filter on a Nexstar 130 slt.

Don't know if you will like astrophotography? Get this camera.Don't know if you will like astrophotography? Get this camera. I bought this camera because I had been using my DSLR for planetary and deep sky shots. The deep sky are nice, but the planetary exposures never got the detail I needed. And the DSLR I have doesn't allow you to adjust much of the video settings, so planets were often overexposed. One of the issues is the size of the sensor compared to the image falling on it. My camera is 12M pixels, which sounds like a lot compare to this 2M unit, but the sensor is so much bigger, it means the sensor pixels are larger. When you do prime focus photography (camera hooked up to your scope directly), even with a 2X barlow, the image is so small, coupled with the larger sensor pixels, it is difficult to get good resolution of planet details. Even using a projection setup (projecting from a telescope lens onto the cameras sensor - I used a 15mm lens) I still could not get good resolution. After looking at a bunch of information on astrophotography, I decided I wanted to try a dedicated camera. Which to choose? There is a ton of information out there and a lot depended on how much you were willing to pay. I decided to get the most reputable cheap unit I could find. Enter SVBONY 105. I got it on sale so it was even less than the normal $50. I thought I would see if I even enjoyed this before sinking significant money into it. The unit is aluminum and has a solid feel to it. The 1.25" barrel fit tightly into the telescope (almost a little too tight, it was sometimes awkward to switch between lens and camera but just a little sanding of the outer barrel and it will fit nicely). My original scope was an older Celestron 4". The first night I tried to use this was unbelievably frustrating as my scope didn't track well enough to be able to play with the settings in SharpCap to get a good picture. The advantage of a small sensor is its great resolution. The downside is that it is a very small spot to hit, and if you don't have a good tracking scope, you are constantly chasing the object. After a couple of attempts, I put this away and went back to the DSLR. Time passed and I got a newer Celestron 6SE. When aligned well, this scope stays LOCKED on your target. What a joy compared to the other scope. So, again, I started playing around with the DSLR and again, was disappointed with the results. I held off using this camera because I have to set up in my alley and it is just harder to drag out a computer and table and run power. Last night, however, I decided to do it. With the scope aligned I locked on to Jupiter and Saturn. After centering the planets in the eyepiece, I swapped in the camera and BAM, there were these beauties in all their glory. Detail was easy to make out, and with the scope locked on to them, I had the chance to take really good shots of the two. Jupiter was a little low so the seeing wasn't that good, but Saturn was high and beautiful. The attached picture is Saturn made with a 2X barlow and from a run of 1000 frames at 640x480 with SER output. I prepped the video in PIPP, stacked in AutoStakkert (using best 50%), sharpened them in RegiStax, and made some adjustments in GIMP (all software is free, thanks guys for allowing average Joes to get into astrophotography on the cheap). I was super happy with the results. I have never taken as good a picture of Saturn before. I plan to use this camera for a bit because I think it is going to help me decide what my next camera will be. I think I like the SVBONY 305, but we will see. Until then, I am going to enjoy how much better this $50 camera is capturing the heavens than my $600 DSLR. If you are new to astrophotography, want to get an introduction to a dedicated astro camera, are not bothered by setting up some extra equipment, and have a good tracking scope or someone to help, then this is such a small price to pay. Just know, if you enjoy it as much as me, you will probably quickly outgrow it and look for more capability (higher resolution, less noise, actively cooled sensor, etc). Hope this helps those of you on the fence.

Great beginner astrophotography camera! Bought mine from SVBONY official store at ebay. Easy to use. Plug it in and allow Sharpcap to access the svbony camera and you are good to go. Got this image of Jupiter tonight on my first attempt with this camera. 300 frames saved as .ser file and processed in AutoStakkert. Then a little touch up in Paintshop Pro X6.

Great Starter Camera! This was my first astrocamera, and considering the price, it's been great. Obviously a bit of a learning curve, but after much research and toying with the camera, I've been getting decent shots at the planets. Research your camera settings, histogram, astronomical seeing conditions, collimation, lense stuff like focal length and ratio, and using this camera will be a lot easier. Because of its pixel size, it's recommended to be used with telescope with an F/15 focal ratio. I have an f/5, so I use a 3x barlow lense to achieve the f15 that I'm looking for. Attached are some pictures, post processing from the SV105.

Works on Windows 10 computer, recommended as an entry-level camera, aluminum enclosure feels solid. The SVBONY SV105Camera works as advertised on my Windows 10 computer, my planet images submitted with this review were through a f/8, 6" (152 mm) newtonian telescope with two stacked 2x barlow lenses, on the night of October 9-10, 2020. I used a filter for Jupiter and Mars. The gain should be increased in Sharpcap if your target (like Saturn) is dim (especially when using barlows). The videos you capture will have very large files (6-9 gigabytes per video when shooting at 30 FPS, so make sure you have enough storage space. It helps to have a computer that won't choke on that much data during acquisition (so some old laptops won't be able to handle that much data flow). I would highly recommend using a barlow lens with this camera to get good image scale. The manufacture is right to mention that is not a deep sky camera, knowing that I still tried after the planet session to image the Pleiades with the maximum 500 ms (1/2 second) exposures, I could only see one star on the screen in live view, so don't think about using it for deep space at all (although I've seen others try the more expensive SV305 for that even though it isn't a deep space camera, it had interesting results). I recommend using a motorized telescope at very high magnifications when shooting the planets (or it will leave the field of view immediately). When shooting the Moon without a barlow it should be possible without a motorized scope but it will need to be moved frequently (which can be very difficult!) I also did a live stream on youtube of the Moon with this camera for International Observe the Moon Night using a 12.5" f/6.3 motorized telescope (search for it there on youtube.) Remember to shoot the Moon when it isn't full (so that you can see the craters on the day/night line/terminator) Remember to try to shoot when the planets are near your local meridian (which is only part of the year), and remember that Mars only comes around to opposition every ~two years. I stacked the videos using Registax, but there are other programs commonly used for that too (check out cloudynights website's Solar System Imaging forum to learn more about how to process images.)

Excellent beginner camera Out of the box, first night with no astrophotography experience. Did some reading, watched some youtube and bingo. Worked like a charm. I would recommend this to a first time user who wants to get his/her feet wet before diving in. Photos taken with a Celestron 8SE.

This + SV165 = Guiding for $85!This + SV165 = Guiding for $85! I purchased this little camera on sale for about $40. This was meant to be an experiment to see if I could use it for guiding to control my Orion Atlas EQ-G mount. I paired this camera with the SVBony SV165 guide scope for about the same price. Let me be clear... this camera is not designed for guiding. It's a low-end planetary camera and is basically a webcam. The image quality out of this camera is pretty poor. It has a maximum shutter speed of 1 second. It does not have its own driver and gets detected as a generic camera. I had pretty low expectations. All that being said, it's small and lightweight and runs off a single USB cable. PHD2 picked it up right away, and was able to automatically stack multiple 1s exposures to get longer exposures. I successfully used this camera with the SV165 to guide for 4 hours in a bortle 4 zone and got within .5 the entire night (sometimes even as low as .2!!). I have yet to try it at home where there's more light pollution, but I expect it to work, just maybe not as well. The attached image of Andromeda (79x60s) was taken while this camera was guiding and you can see how round the stars are. For under $85, I have a great little guiding setup for my budget rig. If you're looking to add guiding to your setup on the cheap, give this a try. It might work well for you, especially if you live under darker skies. Update: It’s been a few weeks now. I’ve been using this at home under bortle 7 skies with great success. Guiding accuracy averages at around .75. If I look at my images now compared to the exact same target a few weeks ago, it’s a night and day difference. Zero regrets here.

Uhhhhh yea.....buy this..... See these photos? They're from the first night out with this camera. The only other astrophotography I've ever attempted was with an iPhone 6. Frustrating, with disappointing results. But with this oddly named little camera? WOW. Pretty unbelievable. I'm using a 6 year old laptop and the software that came with the SVBONY for capture. Somehow it knows which frames to keep, so they are incredibly sharp. My telescope is a super cheap Meade ETX 80 - the backpack model with the super shaky tripod. It was windy, and the seeing was bad too. Didn't seem to bother the SVBONY. All of the above are unstacked frame-grabs, except for Saturn which is a dozen or so frames stacked in registax. Anyway, if you want to dabble in astrophotography a little before dropping $5k on a DSLR, GEM, EPO Refractor, Guide Scope and all that, this is the way to go. The files are small, and the resolution is really good for such a cheap camera.....

Very Nice Price! I added shots I took of the moon to my review to show what I got the first night using the camera. The software included isn't very intuitive and was difficult for a beginner like myself to use, but I'm sure I'll improve with time. Very happy with the camera for the price! Pics were taken with an Apertura 8" Dobsonian Telescope.

Easy to Use, Affordable, Very Good Results Sadly, the first night after receiving my camera, it was rainy and cloudy. Thankfully, the next morning was beautiful, so I was able to test my new camera. I was worried about the price. Normally, the less expensive a product, the worse its quality. I had done a lot of research before purchasing the SVBONY SV105. All of the product reviews were very good for the product and the company. I am very happy with my purchase. I am new to astrophotography. I have had telescopes for many years, but only to look through the eyepieces. New technologies have made it so there is so much more than just looking through eyepieces now. I'm starting out with the inexpensive equipment available. And am having a blast. This camera is a big part of it. The image of the leaves on the tree was taken at a distance. The image of the telescope with the camera attached is what the image was taken from at the distance shown. The above image of the trees was taken with the SVBONY SV105 and a Celestron 70mm Travel Scope DX. The computer I'm using is an old Dell Inspiron 14 3467, using Linux Ubuntu operating system and AstroDMX-Capture software.
