SVBONY SV215 1.25" 3-8mm Clickstop Zoom Eyepiece for Planet View

SV215

Product Review

I’m pleasantly surprised by the excellent performance of this Svbony zoom eyepiece! The images are crisp and sharp to the edge of the generous field, there is no apparent barrel or pincushion distortion and the field of view is flat. The light throughput is also good compared to other quality eyepieces. And, the annoying changing of the size of the field of view is not there. It remains constant throughout the range of magnifications. Construction is also very good and it has the feel of a quality build. I’m very pleased with this zoom eyepiece.

wow this is a pretty decent eyepiece, I saw a you tube video recommending this as a budget / quality high power zoom lens. I am very pleasantly surprised... This is in no means a Televue but for the price the quality is quite good. beware this is a HIGH power eyepiece and the image will be a little dim due to the very small exit pupil

Svbony Zoom Eyepiece Diagonal Finder Scope Combination Kit for Astro

SV215

Product Review

I was a bit skeptical of the price of this eyepiece. I was looking at the reviews and seen nothing but good reviews. So I took a chance, and glad I did. I think there is only a couple of companies that build in this focal points 3-8 mm. The other is well known and the price reflects it. But for 1/3 the price I was floored by the views. My telescope is Astro Tech AT80. F6 and focal length is 480. At 3mm setting that figures out to be 160 times zoom. The moon was just so amazing to view. The build quality is also amazing and feels like a 300 plus eyepiece.

SVBONY SV215 1.25" 3-8mm Clickstop Zoom Eyepiece for Planet View

SV215

Product Review

Zoom Eyepieces aren't always well designed and sometimes the image is not as good as a fixed focal length. The Zoom Eyepieces that work decently, usually cost a small fortune. SVBONY is the exception, it works extremely well and is priced reasonably. While I prefer fixed focal lengths, This Zoom eyepiece is especially useful if you're travelling to site and don't want to carry a lot of gear. Highly recommended

SVBONY SV215 1.25" 3-8mm Clickstop Zoom Eyepiece for Planet View

SV215

Product Review

Very good planetary eyepiece for short focus telescopes. I bought this to use in my refractors. It does a great job with crisp detailed views of the Moon, Planets, and double stars. It's not built like your typical cheap zooms. It keeps the same field of view throughout the zoom settings, and is basically parfocal at each magnification settings. I would highly recommend it. But be patient, as it goes on sale once in a while. Everyone with an F7 or faster refractor needs to get one of these eyepieces.

Petzval Refractor Astrograph Lens | SVBONY SV545

SV545

Product Review

The first light with the little SV545 is in the bag. The following individual images were combined into the 201-minute composite: 10 x 180 seconds LUM 20 x 180 seconds R 20 x 180 seconds G 17 x 180 seconds B The stars are sharp, and I didn't find any coma. The SVBony SV545 is simply SUPERB and I highly recommend it. Thank you, SVBony, for this fantastic telescope.

Here's another image I took with the minicam8 in SHO mode of M42. The 3nm filters really bring out a lot of detail. The image consists of 12 x 180-second exposures each of S, H, and E. I used a Stellavita for camera control and an SVBony SV545 scope.

Svbony SV260 5 Bandpass Filter Light Pollution Deep Sky Photography

SV260

Product Review

The Svbony SV260 is a 2-inch multi-bandpass filter specifically engineered for astrophotographers who need to combat light pollution without sacrificing the natural color balance of broadband targets like galaxies, reflection nebulae, and star clusters. Positioned as a direct competitor to high-end filters like the Optolong L-Pro, the SV260 offers a budget-friendly yet high-performance solution for urban and suburban imaging. Technical Performance The SV260 features a sophisticated 5-bandpass design that targets the specific wavelengths emitted by common light pollution sources, such as sodium and mercury vapor lamps. With a peak transmittance exceeding 90% and an optical density (OD) blocking depth reaching up to OD4 in certain ranges (350-400nm and 720-1100nm), it effectively darkens the sky background while allowing the crucial signals from deep-sky objects to pass through. Its working range from 300nm to 1000nm makes it a versatile "starfield filter" suitable for various optical systems, from fast f/2 lenses to slower telescopes. PROS (Positive Aspects) • Exceptional Color Fidelity: Unlike narrow-band filters that often cast a heavy tint, the SV260 excels at maintaining a natural color balance. This makes it ideal for galaxies and starfields where capturing a full-color spectrum is vital. • Broadband Versatility: It is highly effective for "broadband" targets (galaxies, clusters, reflection nebulae) that are usually difficult to photograph from light-polluted areas. • High Transmittance: With over 90% peak transmission, it ensures that your signal-to-noise ratio remains high, reducing the total integration time needed compared to more aggressive filters. • Effective Light Pollution Suppression: It does a remarkable job of cleaning up the glow from urban environments (up to Bortle 8), providing much higher contrast than shooting without a filter. • Build Quality: The filter is housed in a sturdy 2-inch mount with M48x0.75 threading, fitting standard filter wheels and drawers seamlessly. The inclusion of a protective case and transmittance graph is a professional touch. • Price-to-Performance Ratio: It delivers results nearly identical to more expensive competitors, making it a "best-buy" for those looking for professional quality on a budget. CONS (Negative Aspects) • Haloing on Bright Stars: Like many multi-band filters, the SV260 can exhibit slight halos around very bright stars. While manageable in post-processing, it is a factor to consider for perfectionists. • Subtle Blue/Cyan Shift: Although it maintains colors well, some users may notice a slight shift toward cooler tones (blue/cyan) in the raw data, though this is easily corrected during color calibration. • Not for Extreme Pollution: While excellent for Bortle 4-7, it may struggle in extreme Bortle 9+ environments compared to dedicated narrowband filters (like the SV240), as its wider bandpasses let in more residual glow. • Not for Visual Use: The filter is strictly optimized for cameras; it is not recommended for visual observation or solar viewing. Final Verdict The Svbony SV260 is a game-changer for amateur astrophotographers working under suburban skies. It strikes a perfect balance between blocking unwanted urban glow and preserving the delicate colors of the cosmos. While the occasional halo on bright stars and a slight color cast are minor trade-offs, its performance-to-cost ratio is unbeatable. If you are looking for a reliable "all-rounder" filter for your galaxy season, the SV260 is an outstanding investment. Rating: 4.5/5

SVBONY SC432M Mono Global Shutter CMOS Camera for Solar & Planet

SC432M

Product Review

The Svbony SC432M is a specialized monochrome camera designed primarily for solar and lunar imaging. Built around the Sony IMX432 CMOS sensor, this camera is a strategic choice for those looking to capture high-resolution details of the Sun's surface and atmosphere. Below is a comprehensive look at its performance, strengths, and weaknesses. Technical Overview The heart of the SC432M is its large 1.1-inch global shutter sensor. With a resolution of 1608 x 1104 and a generous pixel size of 9.0μm, this camera is optimized for high full-well capacity and high dynamic range. The monochrome (mono) nature of the sensor is a deliberate choice for solar imaging, as it provides maximum sensitivity and resolution when paired with H-alpha or Calcium-K filters. PROS: What Makes it Stand Out • Global Shutter Technology: Unlike "rolling shutter" cameras that can produce distorted images due to atmospheric turbulence or telescope vibrations, the global shutter of the SC432M captures the entire frame at once. This is essential for sharp solar imaging where "seeing" conditions fluctuate rapidly. • Large 9.0μm Pixels: The large pixel size offers an incredible full-well capacity (approx. 100ke-). This allows for a very high dynamic range, enabling the user to capture both the faint solar prominences and the bright surface details in the same session without blowing out highlights. • High Sensitivity (Monochrome): Since there is no Bayer matrix (color filter) over the sensor, every pixel receives 100% of the incoming light. This makes it exceptionally sensitive, especially when using narrow-band solar filters. • USB 3.0 Interface: The high-speed data transfer allows for a frame rate of up to 120 FPS at full resolution. In "lucky imaging," speed is king, and the SC432M delivers enough frames to "freeze" the atmosphere. • Built-in 256MB DDR3 Buffer: The internal cache ensures stable data transmission, preventing frame loss during high-speed capture, even if the computer's CPU spikes. • Excellent Heat Dissipation: The camera body is designed to manage the heat generated during long daytime sessions under the sun, reducing thermal noise. CONS: Potential Drawbacks • Low Resolution for Large Prints: With only 1.8 megapixels, the resolution is relatively low by modern standards. While perfect for capturing specific solar details or sunspots, it may feel limiting for those wanting to create ultra-high-resolution mosaics of the full lunar disk. • Large Pixel Scale: While the 9.0μm pixels are great for dynamic range, they require a long focal length telescope to reach optimal sampling. Users with short focal length refractors might find the image "under-sampled" without the use of a high-quality Barlow lens. • Mono Learning Curve: For beginners, a mono camera requires more knowledge regarding filtering and post-processing compared to a "one-shot color" camera. • Niche Application: While it can be used for planetary or lunar work, its large pixels and specific sensor characteristics make it less versatile for deep-sky astrophotography compared to other SVBONY models. Final Verdict The Svbony SC432M is a powerful, specialized tool. It isn't a general-purpose camera, but for the dedicated solar observer, it offers professional-grade features at a competitive price. The combination of a global shutter and huge full-well capacity makes it one of the best options in its price bracket for capturing the violent and beautiful activity of the Sun. Rating: 4.5/5

Svbony SV550 122 Triplet APO Telescope SV209 0.8X Flattener Kit

SV550

Product Review

What can I say about this scope. The value for money is amazing. Full metal construction is always a plus. The focuser is very smooth out of the box with zero backlash. The ability to rotate the focuser is a good idea but I don’t use it. The triplet optics are excellent. Very slight purple fringing visible but nothing post processing can’t handle. The tube rings are nice and sold with plenty of mounting options. As you can see, they are easily supporting the weight of a fully loaded SV503 70mm. The vixen rail is fine for visual astronomy but, you’ll want to upgrade to a LOSMANDY rail for astrophotography (as per my pictures).
