SVBONY SV227 2" H-Alpha 5nm Narrowband CCD Filter for Deep Sky
Product Review
The Svbony SV227 is a professional-grade 2-inch narrowband filter designed for serious astrophotographers. By narrowing the passband to just 5nm around the H-alpha (Hα) wavelength ($656.3nm$), this filter is built to isolate the light from emission nebulae while aggressively suppressing light pollution and moonlight. For those transitioning from broad-spectrum imaging to specialized narrowband work, the SV227 represents an accessible entry point into high-contrast deep-sky photography. Technical Performance The core strength of the SV227 lies in its 5nm FWHM (Full Width at Half Maximum). Compared to standard 7nm or 12nm filters, the 5nm bandwidth provides a significantly darker background, which is crucial when shooting from light-polluted urban areas (Bortle 8-9) or during a full moon. With a peak transmission of $\geq 85\%$, it ensures that most of the hydrogen-alpha photons from the nebula reach the sensor, maintaining high efficiency despite the narrow window. PROS: Positive Aspects • Extreme Contrast Enhancement: The tight 5nm bandwidth is excellent at isolating nebulae from the sky glow. It makes "invisible" targets pop out with striking detail, even in suboptimal conditions. • Superior Light Pollution Blocking: This filter is a "moon-killer." It allows you to continue imaging even when the moon is bright, effectively extending your available imaging days throughout the month. • Fine-Tuned Optical Coatings: The SV227 utilizes high-quality vacuum deposition coatings. This results in a durable surface and high transmission at the critical $656.3nm$ line. • Minimal Haloing: One of the biggest fears with narrowband filters is the reflection around bright stars. The SV227 performs admirably here, showing well-controlled star profiles with minimal internal reflections compared to cheaper alternatives. • Standard 2-inch Format: The M48x0.75 threading makes it compatible with almost all standard filter wheels, drawers, and coma correctors. • Price Accessibility: Achieving a 5nm passband usually requires a significant investment. Svbony has managed to bring this technology to a price point that is highly competitive for hobbyists. CONS: Negative Aspects • Strict Parallelism Requirements: Because the passband is so narrow (5nm), this filter is sensitive to "blue shift" when used with very fast optical systems (below $f/2.8$). In extremely fast telescopes like a RASA or Hyperstar, the light rays hit the filter at an angle, which can shift the passband away from the H-alpha line. • Requires Long Exposures: Narrowband imaging naturally lets in much less light than broadband. You will need a sturdy mount capable of long, guided exposures (typically 300s to 600s or more) to get a usable signal-to-noise ratio. • Mono-Sensor Optimized: While it can be used with One-Shot Color (OSC) cameras, it is truly intended for monochrome cameras. Using it on an OSC camera will only utilize 1 out of every 4 pixels (the red ones), which is less efficient. • 85% Peak Transmission: While good, some premium (and much more expensive) filters offer $90\%+$ transmission. This small difference means you might need slightly more integration time to match higher-end glass. Final Verdict The Svbony SV227 H-Alpha 5nm is a specialized tool that delivers on its promise. It transforms "washed-out" urban skies into a dark canvas, allowing the intricate structures of gas clouds to shine through. While it demands a solid mount and patient exposure times, the results—characterized by high contrast and pinpoint stars—are well worth the effort. It is an ideal upgrade for anyone looking to take their nebula imaging to a professional level without the "boutique" price tag. Rating: 4.6/5

Color Planetary Camera SV705C | Svbony
Product Review
This is an absolutely amazing camera. I am not a professional astro photographer, I just take photos for fun and for content on my FB page. I shoot with a 10" Dobsonian on the EQ platform and I have to say that I am literally thrilled with the results with this camera! The camera is also very forgiving, so even a beginner can take beautiful photos with it, with a little practice. I recommend it to everyone!

68 Degree Wide Angle Eyepieces | Svbony
Product Review
This is an excellent set of eyepieces. They are really high quality, yet at an affordable price. I personally have the whole set, but with my 10" telescope I used only the 6 mm and 15 mm eyepieces 95 % of the time. I personally recommend this set, or at least the 2 mentioned, to every astronomer for their first telescope.

2X Barlow 1.25inch with M42 Threads
Product Review
I really like this Barlow and use it with my eyepieces most often. I also use it often with my SV705C camera. In my opinion, this is a really good quality Barlow at a reasonable price. I like that I can unscrew the bottom part and screw it directly onto the eyepiece, which gives me 1.5x, so I actually have 2 Barlows for the price of one.

I can't imagine taking pictures of the Moon, Sun and planets without this filter. I use it whenever I take pictures of these objects with my SV705C camera on a 10" telescope. I am very happy with it.

SV128 1.25/2inch Variable Polarizing Filters for Telescope
Product Review
Recently acquired a Celestron 6se with a number of accessories, including a 32mm 2 inch eyepiece. This variable polarizer was ordered after I had to return a different brand purchased on amazon that was defective. The SVBONY took all of 6 days from order to receiving from China, with excellent tracking vie 17track. The filter is exactly what I needed for fill moon observation. The attached was taken with a different eyepiece camera, but gives an idea of the 6se capabilities. Looking forward to receiving the SV605cc to see what that can do

SA401 20-60x85 Spotting Scopes with Wifi Camera Birding Photography
Product Review
Very impressed with the service provided by Svbony, from ordering to delivery 9 days to the UK, the scope arrived in perfect condition. Blown away by the view through this scope, it's extremely sharp virtually across the whole field of view, neutral colours, no internal reflections, only a slight sign of CA when being pushed at high magnification against a gray sky. I couldn't detect any CA when viewing the moon, the view is stunning. I was considering purchasing a Gavia... judging from the reviews so pleased I didn't, this is a sturdy, solid performing spotting scope. Don't hesitate, just get one!

Svbony MK105 Maksutov Cassegrain OTA 105mm Telescope 160mm Dovetail
Product Review
This is my second telescope and it has held up very well. Good views of Jupiter, the moon, stars, and decent views of other planets like Saturn. Have had little luck in viewing nebula and other non planetary objects but this scope is not designed for those observations. My scope came perfectly aligned and ready to go.

ED Doublet Refractor Telescope for Astrophotography SV503 102 | Svbony
Product Review

SA401 20-60x85 Spotting Scopes with Wifi Camera Birding Photography
Product Review
This is an excellent spotting scope for the money. I've been using it for a solid 5 days, bird watching while away. Also viewed the moon, it delivered excellent, bright and clear views. There's a small amount of CA when pushed to it's maximum magnification and then only against a grey sky, I just dialed it back a little. Its a solid well built scope that performs perfectly well. Shipped to the UK without any issues, delivery time was 9 days.

SVBONY SV503 102ED Telescope SV193 Flattener SV165 Guide Scope Kit
Product Review
I’m just starting out with astrophotography and the sv503 102mm made it easy. I was able to get a large area of the sky to find the objects, and a smooth focus knob dialed it in. I’m pleasantly surprised at the ease of use and quality at a much lower price.

Svbony SV220 2" H-Alpha OIII 7nm Telescope Filter for Nebula Photo
Product Review
I was directed to this filter by someone online, it seemed amazingly cheap for what it was so i was hesitant at first as i'd never bought from SVbony before, but it absolutely did not disappoint, This filter has singlehandedly changed my image quality for the better. i'm getting amazing amounts of nebulosity with very short integration times. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone looking for a decent narrowband / dualband filter!
