SVBONY SV225 Alt-Azimuth Telescope Mount Adjustable for Visual Set

SV225

It's very stout....and well-made. I like this a lot. I attached an Explore Scientific ED127 to it, along with a STOUT tripod....it works fine. Very nice setup for alt-az quick use. The mount is rated for 22 lbs....my scope comes in around 19 lbs. I would buy the SV225 again....and probably WILL when I get (yet) another telescope! Last night I had it out on my deck, viewing Jupiter, Satury, and the Pleiades. Clouds moved in before Orion cleared my backyard trees. This mount performed perfectly, and I love the alt-az slow-mo knobs.....no need to nudge the scope itself to follow a celestial target. Buy this.....just remember to put a good tripod under it. It is really nice and built well for sure. Happy viewing all!

SV225

great mount, great price I was surprised by the quality in this unit. It's well built, and the controls are very smooth. It can also be assembled in different ways for different configurations, which is convenient. I bought it for a small refractor, but after I got it and noticed how well built it was, I thought I would test it to see if it could work with larger telescopes. I managed to mount a 6" Schmidt Newtonian telescope with a corrector plate and large, computer controller focuser, and it did fine. It was at the limit, but it totally worked. I don't plan to use it that way, but it's nice to know it's overbuilt for what I'm using it for. I was able to repurpose an older telescope tripod that came with a cheap telescope and manual EQ mount, which now makes for a very excellent and ultra-portable tripod for my small refractor. It's always setup as a "grab and go" scope with a solar filter and a couple of eyepieces. I've been waiting for years for something affordable to come along so I could make a nice, cheap, tripod and mount for my small refractors, and this really fit the bill.

SVBONY SV225 Alt-Azimuth Telescope Mount Adjustable for Visual Set

Excellent High Value Alt-Az Telescope MountExcellent High Value Alt-Az Telescope Mount I ordered this mount on Black Friday, under $120US on Svbony, to use with my Innorel RT80c carbon fiber leg tripod. Perfect fit. I find it is well engineered, KISS- Keep It Simple Stupid, while performing very well. It is very configurable & serviceable if needed. Just don’t lose parts. FYI, the allen wrench needed to loosen the 3 small allen screws to zero the degree scales is .035 inch. That is the only less common tool you may need to mail order. Great value mount, highly recommend.

SVBONY SV225 Alt-Azimuth Telescope Mount Adjustable for Visual Set

Exceeded my expectations!Exceeded my expectations! I originally was going to buy the Twilight I ALT-AZ mount and take the $350 hit…While researching the Twilight mount, the SVBONY ALT-AZ SV225 mount popped up in my suggestions, so I did some research and watched a few YouTube videos on it, and to my surprise it had mostly positive reviews. Older reviews, although mostly positive, mentioned a few quality control issues…Looking at the price difference of more than $200 less than the Twilight mount it seemed like a no-brainer. I own the Orion Paragon-Plus Binocular mount, and if you know any about it’s set up, it has a long counterweight attachment to support large heavy binoculars and the tripod is beefy and sturdy. I also own the Orion Tritech CFC Carbon Fiber Tripod with 3-way Pan Head. I ignorantly bought it years ago thinking it would support my little ED80 Apochromatic Refractor. Using the carbon fiber tripod over the last several years has been challenging to say the least. 50 degrees or less, I’m good, anything over that I’m fighting for stability and the ALT position is slipping towards 90 degrees. The tripod is pretty much useless trying to view anything over 65 degrees…Orion marketed the carbon fiber tripod as if it could support a small telescope but it’s really designed for cameras. I purchased the SVBONY ALT-AZ SV225 mount with my prime membership on January 9th. It arrived the next day and I was as excited as a 5 year old on Christmas Day. The packaging was superb and all of the contents were included. Some of the older reviews on the mount were related to the metal on metal design. A few reviewers stated that there was play and friction between the joints even after the allen screws were fully tightened, and in some cases too much paint was applied at the factory, also creating play and uneven contact between the metal on metal joints. I experienced no such issues. The first thing I did when I removed the mount from the box was shake it, and try to twist the mount around the contact points…There was absolutely no play or friction…The paint and finish are quality as well. Assembly was fairly simple and the mount position can be configured in several angles to suit your comfort level. I attached the SVBONY ALT-AZ SV225 and my ED80 to my old beefy Paragon tripod and now I’m happier than a pig in mud. This is my first true ALT-AZ mount so I can only compare it to my old carbon fiber tripod. The slow motion controls are butter smooth. I would advise using a drop of blue thread locker to keep them secure because they become loose pretty quickly. I was able to take it outside briefly, but it was very cloudy…After a few breaks in the clouds, I was able to observe Jupiter at near zenith, something I was never able to do with my old tripod. The mount was rock steady and the slow motion controls tracked the planet with ease with no noticeable vibrations. If you own a halfway decent tripod that can support the weight of the mount and your set-up, give the SVBONY ALT-AZ SV225 a chance.

The best quality low cost Mount!? I'm using the SV225 on a wooden self-build tripod with a Celestron Powerseeker 114EQ OTA. The mount itself is rock steady, and the controls are smooth and precise. I couldn't think of a better mount for my telescope—highly recommended!

SVBONY SV225 Alt-Azimuth Telescope Mount Adjustable for Visual Set

SV225

A Very Well Designed Telescope MountA Very Well Designed Telescope Mount I'm really picky about recreational astronomy equipment. There is a lot of poorly designed stuff out there that either doesn't work that well, isn't durable, or is user hostile. The SV 225 mount is great. It came very well packaged, I've used it on top of an Artcise AS90C carbon fiber tripod with a 102mm aperture Maksutov and with two different 90mm aperture refracting telescopes. The mount holds the telescope steady and the slow motion controls make it easy to zero in on an object and then keep it from drifting out of the eyepiece as the earth turns. In fact the weaker point in the system is the tripod. The SV 225 works even better when I've had it on a heavier and more rigid tripod. The SV 225 gives exceptionally good performance for a value mount. The locks on each axis work well and the slow motions are smooth. I find it very easy to set up and use and it is well built with good knobs and finishes. I did customize it with two additions. I bought a 1.25 inch bubble level on Svbony and put it on the mount with double sided tape. This makes it easier to level up the tripod. I also put on a clamp type telescope dovetail bracket - the part that holds the telescope. The screw type bracket that comes with the SV 225 is perfectly adequate, except there is some risk that the screw will leave pressure dimples in the mounting rail on the telescope. Dimples in no way impair the function of the telescope, the are just aesthetically displeasing. Both of these additions are nice to haves and not at all necessary to make the mount work well. If you need a small, quality, affordable alt-azimuth mount that represents a good value, I can highly recommend this one.

SVBONY SV225 Alt-Azimuth Telescope Mount Adjustable for Visual Set

SV225

a good and stable mount I ordered it after having some experience with this mount. I have a Celestron tripod for a previous telescope, and so I planned to attach it to the tripod. Note that Celestron tried to prevent such attempts: the tripod has a specific hole that fits their own mounts. You'll need to have a long screw (see photo). the result might not be most neat and pretty, but it is stable, and anyway, no one will notice at night...

SVBONY SV225 Alt-Azimuth Telescope Mount Adjustable for Visual Set

SV225

Sturdy sitting mount and tripod Perfect for Sky-Watcher Skymax 127mm Maksutov-Cassegrain - Large Aperture Compound-Style Reflector Telescope. This is a sitting only tripod. It is too short for viewing standing up, which is fine by me. Super sturdy, even on uneven pool patio. Holds scope steady in every position. The knobs are latex. I put cloth finger gloves on them. The knobs used to move the scope are not latex. Using them makes finding the target super easy. The mechanisms are perfectly sensitive. Highly recommend. But cover latex knobs. Latex allergies develop with exposure. I did not need the guide stick, which is latex. Keep looking up :)

SV225

Good quality mount. Tripod is short and has a little bit of wiggle in it High quality. Smooth to operate. Tripod is short and needs an extension or longer legs. I'm 5' 7" and have to bend down to use it. Someone 6' plus would really have to bend down. Tripod has a little wiggle in it if you push on it. Still a very nice quality mount and decent quality tripod though.

Svbony SV223 2" 90° Clicklock Dielectric Telescope Diagonal

SV223

Love it, noticeable contrast improvement over my prism diagonal I am still pretty much a newbie in this domain but here's my take: I used this to replace my William optics erect prism diagonal (1 1/4 inch) on my 70mm ED refractor and the picture now does seem better. Both for terrestrial and celestial observations I feel the contrast is better and I can notice a bit more detail. Also tried it on my bigger 130mm Zenith ED refractor and likewise really liked the improved clarity. Note that it's not like 'day and night' as the Williams Optics seemed pretty good already - but the picture did seem brighter and more contrasty. Svbony being a mirror diagonal swaps left and right where my williams prism shows the true upright image with correct orientation, but this is just the function of the design (mirror vs. prism) thus not holding this against the svbony. Happy camper!
