SV190 Eyepiece 1.25inch UF18mm Ultra Flat Field FMC for Astronomy

Outstanding Lens for what you pay for Edit update 05/01/2023: I have been reading at different established Astronomy web sites that some of the reviewers and other senior site members have made claims that the SVBony eyepieces are constructed and the lens are made of plastic. This is completely untrue. For buyers out there I will say it again, that is false and completely untrue. SVBony barrels are made of metal and the green coated lens are glass, not plastic. I do not understand why such false information is being released at such respected sites. All my SVBony products are well made. I just wanted to clear that up. Used this lens twice now at home and at a star party and I am very impressed with its performance. Using the moon for detail really shows what it can do. I saw craters that my other lens did not catch. Very good. It is also the perfect medium power for my 2000mm, focal length telescope. For my telescope that makes about 111 power. I do not like viewing at hi power unless the conditions are perfect and at this moment in the winter with all the air currents, medium power is perfect. The eyepiece comes in a nice heavy-duty box with the caps and a lens cloth. Yes, there are threads on the barrel for filters. Right now, it is SVBONY's best lens at $95.00 and it is worth every penny. I have seen through telescopes using Mead, Orion and other company lens and I fail to see any difference and I am saving a lot of money by buying the SVBONY products. My only negatives are the fact there was no foam cushion for the lens to sit in, in the lens box and not spec sheet about the eyepiece, something that I have already read about SVBONY. I want to close my review writing about the company SVBONY. I have bought many products for my telescope from this company and there's not one thing that I am disappointed in. I have also noticed a drop in eyepiece prices from the major brands and my guess is SVBONY and other China name brands may be one of the reasons for this drop. Those of us with some experience in astronomy already know about most all the major brands of lens are made in China. I have read stories how they are all made from one factory, etc. etc. So why pay more for one brand because their name is slapped on the product? Unless you're a lens snob and they're out there, I see no reason to pay the extra money. There are eyepieces and other lens made in Japan and Germany, but you are going to pay a huge price for those bad boys. Like I said, why pay the extra money? I highly recommend this eyepiece.

SV190 Eyepiece 1.25inch UF18mm Ultra Flat Field FMC for Astronomy

Great flat field eyepiece One of my favorite eyepieces for astronomy in my 8" f6 Dob Newtonian scope. Field is well corrected to the edge of the field. Good field of view: Specs say the apparent field of view is 65 degrees, but I found the AFOV was more like 69 degrees. In my F6 Dob, this is my go-to eyepiece for solar and lunar observing. Also works well on open star clusters. Definitely a good buy for $90. I only wish that Svbony carried the 24mm and 30mm clone eyepieces offered by APM and Sky Rover.

Great mid-tier eyepiece As mentioned in other reviews, this is an SVBONY branded version of a widely available series of flat field eyepieces. This version, outside of some minor cosmetic changes, appears to function equally to the other iterations -- that is to say it is very good bang for the buck for a good mid-tier eyepiece with sharp, relatively wide views. My first version had an unfortunate minor manufacturing flaw (a small flake of machined metal visible inside the barrel of the eyepiece) which SVBONY replaced quickly without any hassle. The replacement is pristine. Overall would recommend.

Perfect for views at a middle power This is a great planetary eyepiece especially for the money! Viewing the moon and other planets shows great detail and contrast. At 18mm, this eyepiece gives you the perfect power of not too close or far. With a telescope focal length of 1500mm, viewing Jupiter with this eyepiece allowed detail of the planet, plus the 4 Galelian moons. Great eye relief too! With telescopes at 500 - 600mm focal length, even galaxies and star clusters showed up well. A great addition to your eyepiece set! K. Kenny - Crewe Observatory

SV190 Eyepiece 1.25inch UF18mm Ultra Flat Field FMC for Astronomy

My most used sub 20mm eyepiece This has to be my favorite as I grab this one the most to mate up with my Nexstar 8SE utilizing a Celestron 2” dielectric diagonal with adapter. Near perfect views of the moon, and Saturn 🪐. Even with a 2.5x Luminos barlow (226x magnification), there’s less abberrations on the sides of the viewing aperture. Eye relief isn’t the greatest, but the image quality is excellent, especially when factoring in cost to wow factor and a wide FOV All glass and aluminum construction with a very soft 14mm eyecup distance from the lens. Hoping that SVBony will release other sizes at some point, as it seems other Chinese manufacturers have the same OEM suppliers with other sizes available. I have amassed about 5 other SVBony eyepieces and happy with all of them, while my other two are Pentax XW 7 & 23. For the price point, the quality is excellent and the fit/ finish along with professional looking laser engraved fonts really make for good value/ performance factor!

SV190 Eyepiece 1.25inch UF18mm Ultra Flat Field FMC for Astronomy

Excellent product and great quality for less I think this svbony is the same 10mm eyepiece sold by other manufacturers with a few minor changes. If I am correct, this eyepiece has the same quality and flat crystal clear view for much less money. It is also really comfortable. Updated: Photos taken with a cell phone and retouched with the same photo app. To the eye it looks perfect.

Terrific Performance at a Bargain Price I don't know how SVBony does it. They now offer a wide range of amateur astronomy products at incredibly low prices. I've purchased both eyepieces and diagonals. All have exceeded my expectations. The 10mm flat field eyepiece displays a wide angle flat field, better than expected eye relief, and no annoying "kidney bean" effect. That means if you reye is slightly off center, the image doesn't blank out. This eyepiece is a quality product that is ideal for beginners as well as experienced observers.

Toll verarbeitet, sehr gute Optik.

Svbony SV190 Telescope 10mm UFF Eyepiece. This is an excellent well made metal EP. Has great wide angle views of the moon and the planets, no distortions. Works well with a 2x Barlow Lens to give a 5mm EP. Easy to use due to a large exit lens, much better than Kellner or Plossl EPs.

SVBONY SV188P 99% Reflectivity 90-Degree Dielectric Mirror Diagonal
