Why the SVBONY 80ED Telescope is the Ultimate Upgrade for Astrophotography Enthusiasts for me

This SVBONY 80ED telescope was, without a doubt, one of the best purchases I've ever made to take a step forward in my astrophotography. The quality of the images it provides is incredible! The extra-low dispersion (ED) glass really makes all the difference. The images are super sharp, with very accurate colors and contrast that left me speechless. Photographing the Moon with it is a whole new experience – every crater appears with a definition I’ve never achieved before.
And it's not just good for the Moon. The SVBONY 80ED telescope is also excellent for those who love photographing deep space objects, like galaxies and nebulae. These objects are millions, even billions of kilometers away and have very little light, but this telescope captures these wonders with impressive clarity. I’m super excited for my next photography outing with my kids. I can’t wait to show them these galaxies and nebulae up close!
One thing I love about this telescope is how portable it is. It’s lightweight and easy to set up, so you can take it anywhere without hassle. I’ve used it in my backyard and even took it to a park. It was super easy to assemble and use without having to lug around a lot of heavy gear, making everything much more practical and fun.
Oh, one of the greatest joys was when I managed to connect my DSLR camera to the telescope. I bought an adapter separately for this. The sharpness I achieved in the Moon photos was on another level.
Now, it’s important to note that the telescope comes with only the lens. It doesn’t include an eyepiece, tripod, or finder scope, so if you’re just starting out, you might need to invest in those items. But if you’re already into astrophotography and want to take your equipment quality up a notch, the SVBONY 80ED telescope is perfect.
For me, it was the upgrade I was looking for, with impressive image quality and a sturdy build. It almost feels like a professional camera lens, it’s that well-made!
In summary, this telescope is a complete package: high-quality images, easy to transport, and the option to attach a DSLR to take your photos to the next level (with separate adapters). Whether observing the Moon or photographing deep space, it delivers incredible results. If you're thinking of upgrading your astrophotography setup, the SVBONY 80ED is definitely an excellent choice.
I absolutely love it!

I absolutely love it! It was my first serious astrophotography telescope and I see no need to replace it for a bigger name brand.
I think you will genuinely be impressed by it. It's compact, light enough. It doesn't feel like a cheap junky telescope. Its very decent quality. I have no doubts you will get amazing results.
Easy to focus, light weight, set-n-forget and for the price

I own the SV503 80mm with the 0.8 reducer. The 503 is really a great scope to work with! Easy to focus, light weight, set-n-forget and for the price: I am still trying to find fault with it.
Great Value

The SVBony SV503ED 80mm refractor is a great value and offers fantastic optical performance. For the price of this instrument users will find excellent optical performance. Chromatic color aberation on the brightest stars are barely noticeable and easily handled in post processing. The OTA weight is easily accommodated on light weight mounts such as the Skywatcher AZ-GTi and similar mounts.
This refractor is a bargain that should not be overlooked.
Clear skies...
An awesome scope!

I purchased the SVBONY SV503 Telescope in Jan 2024 and have been using it for about 9-10 months now, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. This telescope is a fantastic choice for both visual observation and astrophotography. Though I have primary used it for astrophotography. Here are some of the pros and cons I’ve experienced:
Pros:
Exceptional Optics: The 80ED F7 OTA with a 560mm focal length provides stunningly clear and bright images. The 80mm aperture allows for excellent light gathering, making it perfect for both planetary and deep-sky observations.
1.Compact and Portable: Despite its powerful capabilities, the SV503 is lightweight and easy to transport. This makes it ideal for stargazing trips and quick setups2.
High-Quality Build: The telescope is well-constructed with durable materials. The dual hinged mounting rings and Vixen style dovetail make it easy to mount on various EQ or AzAlt mounts.
2.Versatile Use: Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced astronomer, this telescope is user-friendly and versatile. It’s great for capturing high-resolution images of celestial objects and for general sky watching1.
Value for Money: Given its features and performance, the SV503 offers excellent value for its price. It’s a great investment for anyone serious about astronomy.
3.Cons:
Limited Accessories: The telescope doesn’t come with a lot of accessories, so you might need to purchase additional eyepieces or a diagonal separately to get the most out of it4.
Manual Focus: While the manual focus is precise, it can take some time to get used to, especially for beginners. An electronic focuser would have been a nice addition5.
Overall, the SVBONY SV503 Telescope is a remarkable piece of equipment that delivers exceptional performance for both viewing and astrophotography. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the night sky with clarity and detail

This is a pretty sweet scope for the price. This is my first real refractor telescope and it does not disappoint. I shot the attached images with a ZWO ASI533 Pro color camera. It should be noted I live in a Bortle Class 7 region and was still able to get some amazing photos. Focusing is smooth as butter and I love I can finely dial it in with the two stage focuser. This is a hell of a scope so if you're on the fence...grab one! Also get a decent equatorial tracking mount because that is a must when doing astro imaging. Have fun and clear skies!
For me anyway it was money well spent.

i have the 503, 102 for a few years now and i really like it, i use it with my asi 585 and it produces images i am happy with for the price of the setup. it seems to be a good match for a smaller censor i think most people buying a cheaper beginner telescope like this are not going to have an expensive apc sized cooled camera anyway. the chromatic aberration is a pain but it can mostly be sorted out in pixnsight.
So far so good and excellent performance!

I've received the sv503 last week, it really looks like a capable budget beginners scope. SVBONY are producing some nice kit for lower budgets and beginners.
Honestly better than I expected...

It's a solid scope. Make sure you buy it with the field flattener or your edges will be skewed. My stars aren't perfect but that's my fault, plus bad tracking.
The focuser is very easy to use, and very sturdy. It comes with a dovetail and a 1/4-20 mount thread so you can use this on a startracker like SkyGuider or Star Adventurer. I do not regret this purchase, for an entry level scope, it's great.
Also, to the individual claiming this scope has a purple fringe.... it does NOT. Your camera is producing amp glow, getting warm. I have not experienced this issue at all.
Amazing value for the money for both beginners and pros

+ Very nicely made, appreciate the built-in rotator with the tightening screws. I don't see this on telescopes with much higher price tag, it's usually an add-on accessory.
+ Feels sturdy, although I did go through all the screws to make sure they are all tight, a few was a bit loose.
+ The Focuser is like butter, very nicely made, I like the bottom knurled-screw to loosen or tighten the focuser.
+ The dew shield is nice and tight, I had issues with other brands, that the dew shield slides back down too easily. This has just the right amount of tightness.
+Lens is great! (See images) I don't see much chromatic aberration at all. Those who don't know what that is, that lens in the scopes bend the light to focus into your eyepiece and lesser quality lens tend to create this rainbow color halo around stars and shiny objects, because the lights in the spectrum don't exactly focus into a tight spot. This is usually corrected with another piece of lens (those scopes called apochromatic triplet telescopes) , but so is the price go up, way up. For this telescope with only a doublet lens, it's doing fantastic!
